Many people have tried quitting smoking using hypnosis and often one of two things happen:
1. The hypnotist has not done anything to convince them that they were hypnotized so they basically give themselves permission to start again.
An example, I met a man at a party, small talk, he asked what I do. I say "I do hypnosis to help people stop smoking." His response was "I tried that once but it didn't work." So I asked "Do you believe you were hypnotized?" To which he said "no."
Well I am sorry to hear that, "Did you just get up, walk out to your car, and light up a cigarette?" He looked at me and said......."Oh no I was smoking 2 packs of Marlboro's everyday and I left and I didn't have a cigarette for 45 days." Buddy let's go over this conversation again "You were smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day, visit a hypnotist and do not have a cigarette for 45 days....and you say IT DIDN'T WORK....now if you were not hypnotized what do you think you were?" His response, mesmerized. Now because he didn't think he was hypnotized he gave himself permission to start smoking again.
Now because I am older and have mellowed I simply said, "That is interesting."
Fifteen years ago the Naval Aviator side of me would have popped out and I would have said "Look you silly fool, once up a time their was a German named Franz Anton Mesmer that was an early hypnotist, where in the hell do you think the word mesmerize came from? Mesmerize means to hypnotize.
2. The hypnosis works, but extreme stress enters their life. Something happens in their life, they get divorced, lose their job, parent or child dies, argument with the boss or spouse....you name it and they get a craving for a cigarette to calm them down....or they get drunk and think I can have one. Alcohol is involved with a major portion of my clients that start again. People that get injured and have to go on pain killers often immediately start thinking about having a cigarette. Cigarettes tend to be an old friend when stress increases.
Use your phone to get smoking behind
you.
Here in the Seattle area I have been very successful
helping people to stop smoking in a single office
visit. I guarantee that if they start smoking anytime in the
next two years I will do additional sessions at no additional
charge. The vast majority of my clients quit after one session. I have an excellent track record of success. But in reality I
cheat a little because I do the following:
1. In my pre talk
before hypnosis, if I sense the person doesn't really want
to quit I simply suggest they come back when they are
ready. I get men in all the time that are trying to get
their wife off their back. They do not want to quit smoking
and I can't make them quit. I tell them, "Go away and
send your wife in and I will hypnotize her to leave you
alone." Their immediate response is, "CAN YOU DO
THAT?" And I always say, "No, but I laugh every time
I say it."
2. I never collect the fee until after the hypnosis session is
over, because 1 or 2 out of a hundred have a very difficult time
focusing or relaxing...they simply cannot settle themselves. So
I basically say here is a relaxation c/d for you to take home and listen to
several times. If you are able to learn how to relax
using it....come back, but today is on me.
When I hypnotize someone and take their money....I am
strapping on their problem. I want to know in advance that
they are going to really work at doing what they have to do to help
themselves get smoking behind them. I have the advantage in a
one on one visit to read their body language and to listen to the comments they make
regarding how they started, why they smoke, and more importantly,
Why They Want to Quit.
Because hypnosis is such
a powerful tool, I decided I would use it for clients all over
the country that indicate they want to quit. I was raised on a farm near a town of 250
people in Illinois. There probably isn't a hypnotist within 75 miles that specializes in helping people quit
smoking. And many hypnotist require 3 or 4 visits....so it really is a pain for
someone wanting to quit.
I need for a client to have and do the following:
1. A computer and e-mail so that I can forward
certain word files for them to study.
2. A speaker telephone or a headset. Headset is best.
3. The ability to watch a DVD hypnosis session.
4. The ability to download and listen to a relaxation MP3 file from the Internet.
5. And most importantly 1-2 hours in which they can be with me
and not be disrupted....no children, no pets, nothing that will
take their focus from my voice.
When people stop smoking:
1. They are getting control back of their life over smoking
and cigarettes.
2. They stop hurting their health everyday.
3. When they stop smoking they save 100's or 1,000's of
dollars a year.
If it requires a second session I will certainly do it, but I
will ask, have you followed my initial suggestions? It
is critical that people work at helping themselves.
Many of my Associates, around the country, have started
charging $300 or $400.00 to help people stop smoking. I can
charge significantly less than that amount for the telephone
hypnosis. I charge $150.00 for the phone hypnosis.

Now most smokers worry about weight
issues. My hypnosis session is focused on getting you to
start leading a happier healthier life as a peaceful, independent, healthy, happy
non-smoker. Many people get up everyday and never think about
having a cigarette. It never enters their mind to smoke....and my job is to get you
thinking that way as quickly as possible. I need
to change your perception of how hard it will be for you to
stop smoking. Stopping smoking is as easy or as hard
as you let it be. When you start, eating breakfast,
doing some of the simple things I suggest, drinking water like
a sponge, taking vitamins,
trying to get sunlight in your eyes everyday and perceiving your self with veins and arteries free of nicotine and lungs
clean of tars and nicotine you mind accepts there is no place in
your life for cigarettes.
It's that simple. You will lose weight...you will do
more walking and exercise and you will be healthier.
It's not magic.
Good luck on quitting no matter what you decide to do.
