As is obvious from my web site I focus my hypnosis practice on helping people stop smoking. Let me start by saying I have nothing personal against Chantix in that it has probably helped 1,000's of people quit smoking.
My problem is with the people that write prescriptions for the drug without warning the smoker of the potential severe side effects it can cause. I am not worried about nausea, stomach upset, taste changes, constipation, trouble sleeping, wild dreams.....Oh no I am talking about Behavior Changes, mood problems, agitation, anxiety, depression, nervousness, seizures, and most important suicidal thoughts or actions.
COMMITTING SUICIDE IS A BAD WAY TO QUIT SMOKING....But it Works Every time......
Why would anyone perscribe it without suggesting the client tell their spouse or all their close friends that they are going to try a mind altering drug. If it can block the receptors in the brain for nicotine....Lord knows what else it can block. The instructions should be simple....tell all your close friends that you are taking Chantix and if they see you becoming depressed, or start talking about suicide..... for them to take you aside and say....What is wrong with you....get off that drug....YOUR MOTHER DIDN'T RAISE A FOOL.
When people come to see me I have them fill out a questionnaire which includes what methods they have tried to stop smoking. Typical answers are patches, gum, cold turkey, Zyban, Chantix, Wellbutrin, acupuncture, group hypnosis, EFT, on and on.
Anyone that has tried Chantix....I ask....when you were given this prescription did the Doctor warn you about Behavior Change problems? 80% say NO..... they just said this has helped many people stop smoking take it. Now we have all gotten a prescription from our Doctor and tossed the information brochure about the drug.....this is not about a cold or a headache....Chantrix is a very serious mind altering drug designed to block parts of your BRAIN.
As you can also see from my site.....1,000's and 1,000's of people from all over the world have looked at my site. They go up on Goggle and type in stop smoking...and boom there I am.
HERE IS MY REQUEST
I would like anyone that reads this that has tried Chantix or ask your friends that have tried Chantix ...the following questions:
1. Do you feel it was helpful in helping you stop smoking?
2. Did it make you anxious or depressed? What changes did you feel?
3. Were you warned as to the possible side effects by the person that wrote the perscription or did they just say take it....or read the brochure and take it?
4. How long did you take it?
5. If you were told the side effects....did you still try it?
6. Did you advise your friends you were taking it?
7. Did you stop smoking?
I would appreciate hearing from anyone regarding their experience with Chantix....Good or bad.
I am not a lawer looking to sue someone. I am a hypnotist that works at helping people quit smoking.
There is an old saying for Doctors....DO NO HARM.....Chantix is on the edge of doing harm to some users.

Here is the reason I put this page on my site. A couple months ago a young man came into my office to quit smoking. Completes the questionnaire. Lists he has tried Chantix. I ask him how it had gone. He says to me, "I would rather not talk about." My response was now look friend nothing you would tell me would surprise me....Chantix is a mind altering, very powerful drug, for some people.
He opens up and says...no one warned me....I didn't read a brochure or check it out online.....I just thought it was a stop smoking pill...and then....I found myself getting very sad.....I would be sitting and I would just start crying....I thought I was losing my mind.....I had no clue what was going on or what was making it happen. Then it dawned on me the only real change in my life had been the Chantix and I stop taking it....and it got better.
My responce was simple....look me in the eyes....listen up...it was not you crying and being out of control...it was you on Chantix that was crying....Don't be mad at yourself...be mad at the person that gave you the prescription without warning you this could happen.
If you hear of anyone that has tried Chantix.... send them a link to my site...I would enjoy their story.
If you know of someone that is talking about trying Chantix.....Warn Them.
